Edit PDFs with no network
PDF Stitch runs in your browser, and once it has loaded it keeps working without a network. This page says exactly when that is true, and how to install it so it opens like any other app.
When it works offline
Open the app once with a network. While you use it, the browser keeps its files, and from then on it opens and works with the network off, in that browser. It keeps everything it needs to open and draw any PDF, to edit, mark up, fill, sign, redact and download.
- Used once online first: text recognition (it fetches its engine and each language the first time), turning Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other documents into PDFs, and the handwriting fonts for typed signatures. After that first use, each works offline too. Or get them all in one step with Use without a network, on the app's home screen.
- Not kept: in a private window, some browsers keep nothing when the window closes, so the app needs a network again next time.
- Updates: when you are online, the app looks for a new version as it opens, every hour while it runs, and when you come back to it. Once one is ready it offers Reload, and it never reloads by itself, so your work is not lost.
Install it as an app
Installing is optional: it gives PDF Stitch its own window and an icon, and nothing about your files changes. Browsers that do not offer it still keep the app for offline use.
- Chrome or Edge on a computer: open the app, then choose Install in the address bar or in the browser menu.
- Safari on a Mac: open the app, then choose File, then Add to Dock.
- iPhone or iPad: open the app in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.
- Android: open the app in Chrome, open the menu, then Install app or Add to Home screen.
Once installed in Chrome or Edge on a computer, PDF Stitch can be chosen to open PDFs and documents from your file manager. On Android, other apps can share files to it.
Your files, offline or not
Offline or online, your files are read and changed in the browser and never uploaded. Nothing about them is saved unless you turn on "Keep my files in this browser".
